World Health Day 2020: Support nurses and midwives

On the 7th of April 2020, we celebrate World Health Day. This day is more important now than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. This day is dedicated to all the nurses, doctors, volunteers and health workers that are at the forefront in fighting this virus. Thank you for your bravery, courage and determination. They are our heroes during these hard times.

World Health Day was first celebrated worldwide in 1950 by the UN World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, Health is a "state of complete physical, mental, and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity".

"Health is a right, not a privilege"

At this moment, there are many people suffering from COVID-19 and other diseases. It is absolutely crucial that we spread awareness among our friends, families and communities and give them the knowledge to take care of their health. On this day, we realise the great impact our health can have on our society and economy. The nurses, doctors and midwives in our hospitals are working day and night to cure patients of COVID-19. These individuals provide high -quality, respectful treatment and care while also collect data for clinial stides. They help us live a happier, healthier world.

Spare a minute of your day and say Thank you to them.

On World Health day 2020, the WHO will for the first time launch the World Nursing Report 2020. This report will provide us with an overview of the nursing workforce across the globe and support evidance-passed planning throughout the process of contributions of this workforce to improve health and wellbeing for all.
