On April 6, 2020 Tropical Cyclone Harold made landfall on the Island of Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, and Fiji have been severely affected after the storm's passing; leaving their combined populations of 276,000 people- a majority children -to shelter fearing, more than just Covid-19.
UNICEF Response
Cyclone Harold has heavily damaged the water systems in the countries affected. Because of this damage, UNICEF is working with partners in order to ensure water and containers are being provided to people in these communities along with other necessities.
Cyclone Harold has caused severe damage to schools, further jeopardizing access to education in the area. The challenge is being tackled by UNICEF, by providing education kits and setting up learning spaces.
