Happy Holidays! This #AwarenessWednesday smack-dab in the holidays, we would like to focus on child refugees and displacement. By the end of 2017, 31 million children were forced to flee their homes; 13 million of which were refugees. One third of these kids living abroad are refugees; a population which is becoming increasingly younger.
These refugees are usually displaced due to violence and conflict in their home countries, Syria and Afghanistan made up the two highest countries to have children refugees leave to the surrounding areas and Europe. But refugees are only half the picture, the other half are children who are internally displaced. Around 13 million kids have been internally displaced due to the aforementioned reasons, but on top of those natural disasters are also a culprit.
